Text messaging terms

Who sends the messages

Text messages are sent by the Space Coast Aquarium Society, a volunteer-run registered 501(c)(3) non-profit aquarium club, from the club's own mobile number. Messages are delivered through our text messaging service provider, which passes them on our behalf.

What we send

• Membership messages — a reminder when your membership is due to renew, the amount due, how to pay, and confirmation when your renewal is recorded.
• Event messages — reminders for club events, swap meets and auctions, messages about a table you reserved or a form we still need, and cancellations or changes.
• Newsletter messages — a link to read the club newsletter in your browser.
• Club announcements — occasional items that affect members as a group.

We do not send promotional messages about third-party products, and we do not text people who have not asked us to.

How you opt in

• The sign-up form at spacecoastas.org/text-messages.html, where you tick a box agreeing to the wording shown.
• The membership application at scas.fish/join.
• The messaging choices in your member portal at scas.fish.
• Texting START to the club number.

For each of these we keep a record of the date, the source, and the exact wording you were shown, so a later change to our wording never rewrites what you agreed to.

Frequency and cost

Message frequency varies, with no more than about 4 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply — your mobile plan's usual charges still apply. The club does not charge for messages.

Stopping and getting help

Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. Your number is removed from our messaging list straight away; complete delivery of the stop instruction across all networks can take up to 24 hours. Text HELP for help, or email socials@spacecoastas.org. Texting START subscribes you again, and we will confirm that by text.

Consent to receive messages is never a condition of membership, of a purchase, or of taking part in a club program.

Keywords you can text

Text	What happens
STATUS	An automatic reply with your membership status, the date your membership runs through, and anything owing. DUES and MEMBER work the same way.
NUMBER	An automatic reply with your member number, which is used at our auctions. NUM works the same way.
HELP	An automatic reply explaining the keywords and how to reach the club.
STOP	Unsubscribes you from club text messages.
START	Subscribes you again and confirms it by text.

STATUS and NUMBER replies are sent only to a mobile number the club already has on file for a member, and never include anyone else's details. Replying to these keywords does not sign you up for any other messages.

Your mobile number

We do not sell your information, and no mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile numbers are never published on any club page and are not visible to other members. Our privacy policy explains this in full.

Changes

If we change what we text or how often, this page is updated with a new date. Members who have opted in are not enrolled in a materially different messaging programme without asking them again.
